Choosing A Power Source
You can power your SCR-65 from:
Four C batteries
A standard AC outlet using an AC adapter
A vehicle's battery power, using a DC adapter
Battery Power
Your SCR-65 can use four C batteries (not supplied) for power. For the
longest life, we recommend alkaline batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No.
28-551.
CAUTIONS: Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type.
Never mix old and new batteries.
To install batteries:
1. Push the tab down and lift off the battery compartment cover.
2. Place four C batteries in the compartment as indicated by the polarity
symbols + and - marked inside the compartment.
NOTE: The one battery goes under the others.
3. To replace the cover, insert the cover's bottom tab first, then fold
the cover up until the top tab snaps back in.
If the sound weakens or the cassette tape playing speed slows, replace the
batteries.
CAUTIONS: If you do not plan to use the SCR-65 for a month or more, remove
and store the batteries. Batteries can leak chemicals that
damage the recorder's electronic circuits.
Always dispose of old batteries promptly and properly.
Standard AC outlet
The SCR-65 can use standard AC outlet with an AC adapter, such as Cat. No.
273-1663.
CAUTIONS: You must use an AC adapter that supplies 6 volts and delivers at
least 500 milliamps. Its center tip must be set to negative, and
its plug must correctly fit the SCR-65's DC 6V jack.
The recommended adapter meets these specifications. Using an
adapter that does not meet these specifications could damage the
SCR-65 or the adapter.
To protect your SCR-65, always plug the adapter into the recorder
before you plug it into an AC outlet. Always unplug the adapter
from the AC outlet before you unplug it from the recorder.
Follow these steps to power the SCR-65 from a standard AC outlet.
1. Insert the adapter's barrel plug into the SCR-65's DC 6V jack.
2. Plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet.
NOTE: Connecting an AC adapter automatically disconnects internal
batteries.
Using Your Vehicle's Battery Power
The SCR-65 can use your vehicle's battery for power with a DC adapter such
as Cat. No. 273-1802.
CAUTIONS: You must use a DC adapter that supplies (regulated) 6-volt power
and delivers at least 500 milliamps. Its center tip must be set
to negative and its plug must correctly fit the SCR-65's DC 6V
jack.
Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could
damage your recorder or the adapter.
To protect your vehicle's electrical system, always plug the
adapter into the recorder before you plug it into your vehicle's
cigarette lighter socket. Always unplug it from your vehicle
cigarette lighter socket before you unplug it from the recorder.
Follow these steps to power your recorder from your vehicle's battery.
1. Set the adapter's voltage switch to 6V.
2. Insert the adapter's plug into the radio's DC 6V jack.
3. Plug the adapter into the vehicle's cigarette-lighter socket.
NOTE: Connecting the DC adapter automatically disconnects internal
batteries.
