recommend Supertape Extended-Range or Low-Noise Type 1 tape.
An automatic Level Control (ACL) circuit automatically adjusts the
volume of the recording.
Before recording, be sure the cassette tape's erase-protection tabs
are in place. See "Preventing Accidental Erasure", on Faxback Doc.

Recording AM Broadcasts
Sometimes taped AM broadcasts produce a whistling sound that you can hear
while recording or playing the tape. Set BEAT CUT on the back of the re-
corder to the position that produces the best quality recording.
Using Headphones
To listen in privacy, turn VOLUME to its lowest setting and plug headphones,
which have a 1/8-inch plug, into the PHONES jack. Then adjust VOLUME to a
comfortable listening level. Your local Radio Shack store has a complete
line of headphones from which to choose.
Listening Safely
To protect your hearing, follow these guidelines when you use headphones.
Do not listen at extremely high-volume levels. Extended high-volume
listening can lead to permanent hearing loss.
Set the volume to its lowest level before you begin listening. After you
put on the headphones, adjust the volume to a comfortable listening level.
Do not increase the volume once you have established a comfortable listen-
ing level. Over time, your ears adapt to the volume level, so a volume
level that does not cause discomfort might still damage your hearing.
Traffic Safety
Do not wear headphones while operating a motor vehicle or riding a bicycle.
This can cause a traffic hazard and is illegal in some areas.
Even though some headphones are designed to let you hear outside sounds when
listening at normal volume levels, they still present a traffic hazard.
