CD-6600 Compact Disc Automatic Changer
(420-5057) Operation II Faxback Doc. # 32151
USING CATEGORY AND SUBCATEGORY NAMES
You can assign a category name to each loaded CD, and then use category
names to select and play only those CDs that contain the type of music you
want to hear.
In addition to assigning category names to loaded CDs, you can further
define music styles within the same category by assigning your own subcat-
egory name to the CD. For example, if you load two jazz CD's and assign a
JAZZ category name, you can assign subcategory names such as DIXIE or
FUSION.
NOTES: The CD changer maintains the selected category and subcategory
name by disc number. If you eject a CD, then load another CD
as that same disc number, the same category and subcategory
names apply to the new CD until you change them.
The CD changer saves category and subcategory names even when
AC power is turned off.
You must assign a category to a loaded CD before you can
assign a subcategory to it.
ASSIGNING PRESET CATEGORY NAMES TO CDS
The CD changer has these preset category names:
CLAS (Classical)
C/W (Country and western)
EASY (Easy listening)
JAZZ (Jazz)
ROCK (Rock)
R/B (Rhythm and Blues)
SHOW (Show tunes)
Follow these steps to assign a preset category name.
1. With play stopped, select the desired CD.
2. Select a category name using either of the following methods.
On the remote control, press ENTER MAIN then turn and hold
CATEGORY/DISC clockwise or counterclockwise until CATEGORY and the
category name flash.
Repeatedly press ENTER CATEGORY MAIN on the CD changer until CATEGORY
and the category name flash.
As you hold CATEGORY/DISC or each time you press ENTER CATEGORY MAIN,
the CD changer displays the preset category names and any category
names you entered (see "Creating and Assigning New Category Names",
below) in alphabetic order. The CD changer also displays -----------
(blank for creating a new category name.)
3. When you see the category name you want, press MEMORY. (category
name) IS MEMORIZED scrolls across the display once.
CREATING AND ASSIGNING NEW CATEGORY NAMES
When a CD is loaded, you can create a new category name that contains up
to 8 characters (including letters, numbers and special characters) and
assign the new category name to the disc number.
1. With play stopped, select the desired CD.
2. Create a new category name using either of the following methods.
On the remote control, press ENTER MAIN, then turn and hold
CATEGORY/DISC clockwise or counterclockwise until ------- appears on
the display.
Repeatedly press ENTER CATEGORY MAIN on the CD changer until --------
appears on the display.
3. Repeatedly press the appropriate DISC SELECT key on the CD changer or
a number key on the remote control until the desired character
replaces the flashing - on the display. For example, to select L,
repeatedly press 4/JKL until L flashes on the display.
4. Press >>/>>| on the CD changer or CURSOR> on the remote control
once. The next - in ----------- flashes.
5. Repeat Steps 3-4 until the display shows the new category name.
NOTE: If you make a mistake, repeatedly press |<</<< on the CD
changer or CURSOR < on the remote control until the incorrect
character flashes, then repeat this step.
6. After you enter the new category name, press MEMORY to store it. The
category name you entered and IS MEMORIZED scrolls across the display.
CREATING AND ASSIGNING SUBCATEGORY NAMES
You can create subcategory names that contain up to 8 characters
(Including letters, numbers and special characters) and assign the
subcategory name to a disc number that already has a category name.
(There are no preset subcategory names.)
NOTES: You must assign a category name to the CD before you can
assign a subcategory name to it.
Since the CD changer lets you select and play CDs by
subcategory name (see "Playing CDs by Category/Subcategory"),
do not assign the same subcategory name to CDs in different
categories. Otherwise, when you select and play the CDs
assigned with that subcategory name, you might hear CDs in an
unexpected category.
1. With play stopped, select the desired CD.
2. Press ENTER CATEGORY MAIN on the CD changer or ENTER MAIN on the
remote control once. The category name you assigned to the disc
number and CATEGORY flash.
3. Press ENTER CATEGORY SUB on the CD changer or ENTER SUB on the remote
control once. ----------------------- appears on the display.
4. Repeatedly press the appropriate DISC SELECT on the CD changer or a
number key on the remote control until the desired character replaces
the flashing - on the display.
5. Press >>/>>| on the CD changer or CURSOR > on the remote control
once. The next - in ---------- flashes.
6. Repeat Steps 4-5 until the display shows the new subcategory name.
7. After you enter the new subcategory name, press MEMORY to store it.
The category name, the subcategory name you entered, and IS MEMORIZED
scrolls across the display.
