CD-6600 Compact Disc Automatic Changer
(420-5057) Operation II Faxback Doc. # 32151

USING CATEGORY AND SUBCATEGORY NAMES

You can assign a category name to each loaded CD, and then use category
names to select and play only those CDs that contain the type of music you
want to hear.

In addition to assigning category names to loaded CDs, you can further
define music styles within the same category by assigning your own subcat-
egory name to the CD. For example, if you load two jazz CD's and assign a
JAZZ category name, you can assign subcategory names such as DIXIE or
FUSION.

NOTES: The CD changer maintains the selected category and subcategory
name by disc number. If you eject a CD, then load another CD
as that same disc number, the same category and subcategory
names apply to the new CD until you change them.

The CD changer saves category and subcategory names even when
            AC power is turned off.

You must assign a category to a loaded CD before you can
            assign a subcategory to it.

ASSIGNING PRESET CATEGORY NAMES TO CDS

The CD changer has these preset category names:

    CLAS (Classical)

    C/W (Country and western)

    EASY (Easy listening)

    JAZZ (Jazz)

    ROCK (Rock)

    R/B (Rhythm and Blues)

    SHOW (Show tunes)

Follow these steps to assign a preset category name.

1. With play stopped, select the desired CD.

2. Select a category name using either of the following methods.

On the remote control, press ENTER MAIN then turn and hold
CATEGORY/DISC clockwise or counterclockwise until CATEGORY and the
    category name flash.

Repeatedly press ENTER CATEGORY MAIN on the CD changer until CATEGORY
    and the category name flash.

As you hold CATEGORY/DISC or each time you press ENTER CATEGORY MAIN,
the CD changer displays the preset category names and any category
names you entered (see "Creating and Assigning New Category Names",
below) in alphabetic order. The CD changer also displays -----------
(blank for creating a new category name.)

3. When you see the category name you want, press MEMORY. (category
name) IS MEMORIZED scrolls across the display once.

CREATING AND ASSIGNING NEW CATEGORY NAMES

When a CD is loaded, you can create a new category name that contains up
to 8 characters (including letters, numbers and special characters) and
assign the new category name to the disc number.

1. With play stopped, select the desired CD.

2. Create a new category name using either of the following methods.

On the remote control, press ENTER MAIN, then turn and hold
CATEGORY/DISC clockwise or counterclockwise until ------- appears on
    the display.

Repeatedly press ENTER CATEGORY MAIN on the CD changer until --------
    appears on the display.

3. Repeatedly press the appropriate DISC SELECT key on the CD changer or
a number key on the remote control until the desired character
replaces the flashing - on the display. For example, to select L,
repeatedly press 4/JKL until L flashes on the display.

4. Press >>/>>| on the CD changer or CURSOR> on the remote control
once. The next - in ----------- flashes.

5. Repeat Steps 3-4 until the display shows the new category name.

NOTE: If you make a mistake, repeatedly press |<</<< on the CD
changer or CURSOR < on the remote control until the incorrect
character flashes, then repeat this step.

6. After you enter the new category name, press MEMORY to store it. The
category name you entered and IS MEMORIZED scrolls across the display.

CREATING AND ASSIGNING SUBCATEGORY NAMES

You can create subcategory names that contain up to 8 characters
(Including letters, numbers and special characters) and assign the
subcategory name to a disc number that already has a category name.
(There are no preset subcategory names.)

NOTES: You must assign a category name to the CD before you can
assign a subcategory name to it.

Since the CD changer lets you select and play CDs by
subcategory name (see "Playing CDs by Category/Subcategory"),
do not assign the same subcategory name to CDs in different
categories. Otherwise, when you select and play the CDs
assigned with that subcategory name, you might hear CDs in an
            unexpected category.

1. With play stopped, select the desired CD.

2. Press ENTER CATEGORY MAIN on the CD changer or ENTER MAIN on the
remote control once. The category name you assigned to the disc
    number and CATEGORY flash.

3. Press ENTER CATEGORY SUB on the CD changer or ENTER SUB on the remote
control once. ----------------------- appears on the display.

4. Repeatedly press the appropriate DISC SELECT on the CD changer or a
number key on the remote control until the desired character replaces
the flashing - on the display.

5. Press >>/>>| on the CD changer or CURSOR > on the remote control
once. The next - in ---------- flashes.

6. Repeat Steps 4-5 until the display shows the new subcategory name.

7. After you enter the new subcategory name, press MEMORY to store it.
The category name, the subcategory name you entered, and IS MEMORIZED
    scrolls across the display.

CHANGING/ERASING CATEGORY AND SUBCATEGORY NAMES

NOTES: When you change or erase a category name, the CD changer
automatically erases any assigned subcategory names.

When you erase a subcategory name, the CD changer
            automatically erases the category name.

Changing Category/Subcategory Names

Follow these steps to change a CD's category or subcategory name.

1. With play stopped, select the desired CD.

2. Press ENTER CATEGORY MAIN on the CD changer or ENTER MAIN on the
remote control. Then, if you want to change the subcategory name,
press ENTER CATEGORY SUB on the CD changer or ENTER SUB on the remote
control. The current category or SUBCATEGORY name and CATEGORY or SUB
    CATEGORY flash.

3. Press >>/>>| on the CD changer or CURSOR > on the remote control once.
The first letter of the category or subcategory name flashes.

4. Follow Steps 4-6 under "Creating and Assigning New Category Names" or
Steps 5-7 under "Creating and Assigning Subcategory Names", above to
change the displayed category or subcategory name.

Erasing Category/Subcategory Names

NOTES: The CD changer maintains the selected category and subcategory
name by disc number. If you eject a CD, then load another CD
as that same disc number, the same category and subcategory
name applies to the new CD until you erase them.

The following steps erase the category and subcategory name
            only for the selected CD.

Follow these steps to erase a CD's category and subcategory name.

1. With play stopped, select the desired CD.

2. Press ENTER CATEGORY MAIN on the CD changer or ENTER MAIN on the
remote control once. The category name and CATEGORY flash on the
    display.

3. Press CLEAR. PRESS CLEAR KEY AGAIN TO ERASE scrolls across the
    display twice.

4. Press CLEAR again before PRESS CLEAR KEY AGAIN to ERASE disappears.
    ERASED briefly appears.

PLAYING CDS BY CATEGORY/SUBCATEGORY

NOTE: You can randomly play tracks on CDs by category or subcategory
           (see "Random Play", below).

Follow these steps to play only those CDs assigned to a specific category
or subcategory.

1. With play stopped, select a category name using either of the
    following methods.

On the remote control, press MAIN, then turn and hold CATEGORY/DISC
clockwise or counterclockwise until CATEGORY and the category name
    appears.

Repeatedly press CATEGORY SELECT MAIN on the CD changer until CATEGORY
    and the category name appear.

As each category name appears, the display shows only the disc numbers
assigned to that category.

2. If desired, select a subcategory name using either of the following
    methods.

On the remote control, press SUB, then turn and hold CATEGORY DISC
clockwise or counterclockwise until the subcategory name appears.

Repeatedly press CATEGORY SELECT SUB on the CD changer until the
    subcategory name appears.

As each subcategory name appears, the display shows only the disc numbers
assigned to that category.

NOTE: If you have not assigned a subcategory name to a disc number,
SUB CATEGORY NOT USED scrolls across the display.

3. Press PLAY/PAUSE. > PLAY appears, and SEARCHING DISC and the CD's
disc number scroll across the display. After a few seconds, the
first CD in the category or subcategory begins to play.

4. After playing all CDs with the same category or subcategory name, the
CD changer stops. Press STOP to stop play before the CD changer
    automatically stops.

The category or subcategory stays selected after playback is over. To
clear the category or subcategory selection, with play stopped, press
    STOP.

RANDOM PLAY

During random play, the CD changer randomly selects and plays tracks.

NOTE: You cannot use skip play or audible search during random play.

Playing Random Tracks

1. While the CD changer is stopped, press RANDOM once to select RANDOM 1,
or twice to select RANDOM 2.

RANDOM 1 selects a track from a CD and plays the track, then
repeatedly selects another CD and plays another track.

RANDOM 2 selects a CD and plays all of that CD's tracks randomly, then
repeatedly selects another CD and plays all of that CD's tracks
    randomly.

2. Press PLAY/PAUSE to start random play.

NOTES: During both types of random play, the CD changer might select
a non-existent track number and display DISC ERROR for a few
seconds until it selects another track number. This is not a
            malfunction.

During both types of random play, the CD changer never selects the
same track twice in a row from a single CD. However, the CD changer
might select the same track more than once.

3. To randomly select another track on the same CD or another CD during
    random play, repeatedly press RANDOM.

4. To stop random play, press STOP.

    subcategory name appears.

2. Follow Steps 1-4 under "Playing Random Tracks", above.

Simply press INTRO to play the first 10 seconds of each track on the
current CD. INTRO appears on the display. Press INTRO again to return to
normal play.

NOTES: If you press INTRO during normal play, intro scan starts from
the next track on the CD.

You can use the skip play feature during intro scan. See
"Skip Play", on Faxback Doc. # 32148.

REPEAT PLAY

You can repeat a single track on any loaded CD, all tracks on a selected
CD, all tracks on all loaded CDs, or a programmed sequence
(see "Programmed Play", below).

NOTE: To cancel repeat play at any time, repeatedly press REPEAT
until REPEAT ONE, REPEAT ALL, and REPEAT CONTINUE disappear
           from the display.

To repeat a single track, repeatedly press REPEAT until REPEAT
           ONE appears on the display.

To repeat all tracks on a CD or in a programmed sequence,

           display.

To repeat all tracks on all loaded CDs, repeatedly press
REPEAT until REPEAT CONTINUE appears on the display.

NOTES: If you select a category to play, only tracks from CDs in that
category repeat when you select REPEAT CONTINUE (see "Playing
            CDs by Category/Subcategory", above).

You cannot select REPEAT CONTINUE if you selected a category
            containing only 1 CD.

PROGRAMMED PLAY

You can program up to 48 selections from all loaded CDs to play in any
order you choose. A selection can be either a single track from a CD or
all the tracks on a CD.

NOTES: You can store a selection more than once in a programmed
            sequence.

You cannot display the remaining time for the entire CD during
            programmed play.

Programming and Playing a Sequence

    PROG. flashes.

2. Select the desired CD.

NOTE: To store all tracks on the selected CD, skip to Step 4.

3. Repeatedly press |<</<< or >>/>>| until the display shows the
    track you want to program.

4. Press MEMORY. The CD changer programs your selection.

5. Repeat Steps 2-4 to program more selections.

NOTE: If you try to program more than 489 selections, FULL appears.

6. To play the programmed sequence, press PLAY/PAUSE.

After the CD changer plays the last track in the programmed sequence,
    it stops.

NOTES: If you programmed a non-existent track (for example, Track 10
when that CD has only nine tracks), the CD changer skips the
track and plays the next programmed track.

The programmed sequence stays in memory after playback is
over. See "Clearing the Programmed Sequence", below, for how
            to clear the programmed sequence.

You can use skip play during programmed play
(see "Skip Play", on Faxback Doc. # 32148).

You can use audible search during programmed play by pressing
and holding down |<</<< or >>/>>|. When the CD changer reaches
the end of a track during audible Search, it pauses at the
beginning of the next programmed track. When the CD changer
reaches the beginning of the current track, it pauses there.

Reviewing the Programmed Sequence

With play stopped, repeatedly press MEMORY. The display shows the
following programming information for each selection in the sequence.

DISC and the selected CD's disc number
