CD-3310 (140-0535) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 3973

The CD-3310 Portable AM/FM Stereo System is an example of superior design
and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for the
CD-3310 so you can enjoy it for years.

Keep the CD-3310 dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.
Liquids can contain minerals that can corrode electronic circuits.

Use the CD-3310 only in normal temperature environments. Temperature
extremes can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage batteries,
and warp or melt plastic parts.

Handle the CD-3310 carefully. Dropping it can damage cases and
circuit boards and cause it to work improperly.

Keep the CD-3310 away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature
    wear of parts.

Wipe the CD-3310 occasionally with a damp cloth to keep it looking
new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong
    detergents to clean the recorder.

Use only fresh batteries of the recommended size and type. Always
remove old or weak batteries. They can leak chemicals that destroy
    electronic circuits.

Modifying or tampering with the CD-3310's internal components can cause a
malfunction and might invalidate its warranty and void your FCC
authorization to operate it. If your CD-3310 is not performing as it
should, take it to your local Radio Shack store for assistance.

CLEANING THE TAPE-HANDLING PARTS.

You should clean the tape heads after about every 20 hours of tape
operation.

Follow these steps to clean the tape handling parts. Use a tape head
cleaning kit available from your local Radio Shack store to clean the tape
handling parts.

1. Remove the batteries and disconnect any power source.

2. Press PLAY. The tape mechanism moves upward, exposing the parts you
    need to clean.

3. Follow the instructions in the tape head cleaning kit.

DO NOT DEMAGNETIZE THE HEADS

Do not attempt to demagnetize the record/playback or erase heads. Doing
so could damage the CD-3310. The CD-3310 uses a permanent magnet erasing
system that ensures recording clarity and high frequency response. Unlike
other erasing systems, the permanent magnet erase head does not accumulate
residual magnetism that could interfere with recording.

FCC NOTICE

This system complies with the limits for a Class B digital device as
specified in Part 15 of FCC Rules. These limits provide reasonable
protection against radio and TV interference in a residential area.
However, your equipment might cause TV or radio interference even when it
is operating properly. To eliminate interference, you can try one or more
of the following corrective measures:

Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.

Increase the distance between the equipment and the radio or TV.

Use outlets on different electrical circuits for the equipment and
    the radio or TV.

Consult your local Radio Shack store or an experienced radio/TV
technician if the problem still exists.

If you cannot eliminate the interference, the FCC requires that you
    stop using your CD-3310.
