(420-5051) Operation Faxback Doc. # 18441

PLAYING A CD

Your CD player can play standard 5- or 3-inch CDs that have this mark on
them: COMPACT/disk/DIGITAL AUDIO

Follow these steps to play a CD.

1. Set VOLUME to the minimum level. Be sure HOLD on the left side of the
CD player is set to OFF.

2. Lift up OPEN to open the disc compartment cover.

3. Carefully place the CD, label side up, over the disc compartment's
center hub. Press down slightly on the CD until it clicks and lies flat
in the compartment, then close the cover. The display briefly shows a
flashing -- then the total number of tracks on the CD. After several
seconds the CD player turns off.

4. Press >II. The CD player turns on and shows the total number of tracks
on the CD. Then track 1 begins to play. As the tracks play, the display
    shows the current track number.

5. Adjust the volume to a comfortable listening level, using either of
    the following guidelines:

If you connected earphones, amplified speakers, or a CD-to-cassette
adapter to the CD player's PHONES jack, set the CD player's VOLUME
    to the desired level.

NOTE: The CD player's VOLUME control affects only the volume level you
hear through the PHONES jack, not the volume level of the sound
you hear through the LINE OUT jack.

If you connected the player's LINE OUT jack to your home audio
system or your car's stereo, use the volume controls on those
units to set the desired volume as needed.

CAUTION: To avoid speaker damage, set your audio system or car
stereo's volume control to the minimum level before you play
a CD. After the CD player begins to play, slowly increase
              the volume.

6. When the last track finishes playing, the CD player automatically
    stops and turns off.

To stop PLAYING the CD before it ends, press STOP. The display shows 00 for
about 10 seconds, then the CD player automatically turns off.
