SPECIAL FEATURES

DIGITAL ANTI-SHOCK SYSTEM (DAS2)

Your CD-3490 contains special circuits to overcome sound skipping problems
caused by shock or vibration. This means you can carry the player anywhere
you go or use it in your vehicle. When you turn on the anti-shock system,
the CD player continuously saves the next few seconds of music in memory.
During a shock or vibration that would normally make a CD player skip or
pause, the CD player plays directly from memory.

During play, press DAS2 to turn on the anti-shock system. The sound
briefly stops, then the empty memory icon appears on the display and
quickly increases to full as the music is stored in memory.

When the CD player is subjected to a shock during play, the music stored
in memory plays and the amount of storage on the memory icon begins to
decrease. When the shock is over and the CD player can properly read the
CD again, music is once again stored in memory, and the memory icon
increases to full.

NOTES: If shocks are received repeatedly, all music in the memory is
quickly used. When the empty memory icon appears, the sound
        might skip.

The anti-shock system consumes more battery power. When you use
the player in a stable location, turn off the system to conserve
        battery power.

To turn off the anti-shock system, press DAS2 again. The sound
briefly stops, then the empty memory icon disappears from the
        display.

DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING SYSTEM

When you play a CD on your CD player, you can use the digital signal
processing system to boost the bass sound or to expand the sound to suit
your preference. This affects both the LINE OUT and PHONES outputs.

To increase the bass levels or the ambience:

Press DSP once so the LIVE 1 indicator lights. The bass sound is
    increased.

Repeatedly press DSP until the LIVE 2 indicator lights. The ambience
    is increased.

Repeatedly press DSP until the LIVE 3 indicator lights. Both the bass
sound and the ambience are increased.

To return to normal sound, repeatedly press DSP until no indicator lights.
