MX-1000 (320-3004) Connections Faxback Doc. # 15751

Be sure you make all the connections before you plug in the AC power cord
or turn on the mixer.

Use low-capacitance shielded cables when connecting the microphones and
auxiliary sound sources to the mixer's input and output terminals. This
helps prevent hum and other noise. Your local Radio Shack store sells the
necessary shielded cables.

CONNECTING THE INPUTS

Connecting Microphones

You can connect up to six microphones to the INPUT 1 - INPUT 6 jacks.

Connect up to six low-impedance microphones to the balanced LOW IMP
    (3-pin XLR) input jacks.

NOTE: When using microphones with cords longer than 20 feet, we recommend
you use the LOW IMP inputs to reduce signal hum.

Connect up to six high impedance microphones to the unbalanced HI
      IMP (1/4-Inch phone) input jacks.

NOTE: Instead of a low-impedance microphone, you can connect a condenser
microphone to any of the XLR INPUT 1 - INPUT 6 LOW IMP jacks.

If you connect microphones to both the HI IMP jack and a LOW IMP
input jack in the same set (INPUT 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6), both
       microphone's inputs are combined.

Connecting a Sound Source Other than a Microphone

You can connect the high-level output of any sound source (such as a CD
player, tape deck, or tuner) to the amplifier's AUX IN jack.

CONNECTING THE OUTPUTS

Connecting the High/Low Impedance Outputs

Both the high and low impedance OUTPUT connectors contain the low-level
outputs of all the mixed sources. To provide this as input to an audio
device (such as an amplifier, tape deck, or another mixer), connect these
OUTPUT connectors to an audio device's microphone input jacks as follows:

Connector Connector Type Impedance Connect To

HI IMP 1/4-inch phone High-impedance unbalanced microphone
OUTPUT jack (150- to 600-ohm) line, or amplifier/-
                                                    tape deck microphone
                                                    input

LOW IMP 3-Pin XLR low-impedance balanced microphone
OUTPUT recessed plug line

Connecting the Aux Output

Both the AUX OUT 1/4-inch phone and AUX OUT RCA phono jacks are unbalanced,
high-impedance, high-level outputs. To provide this as input to an audio
device (such as an amplifier, tape deck, or another mixer), connect either
jack to an amplifier or tape deck's auxiliary high-level (0.1 - 2.0 volts)
input terminals.

CONNECTING THE MIX BUS JACK

You can control up to 12 individual inputs with two independent master
controls by connecting two MX - 1000 microphone mixers. To prevent hum and
other noise, connect a phono plug-to-phone plug shielded cable (such as
Cat. No. 42-2365, not supplied) between the MIX BUS jacks of both mixers.

CONNECTING AC POWER

Connect the AC power cord to a standard AC outlet.
