Important Tips About Your Compaq A1000 All-In-One
Before connecting the A1000 to your PC (Step 7 of the Quick Setup Poster), 
make sure you have powered on your PC and Microsoft Windows is up and 
running. 

If on completion of the software installation, printing is very slow (takes 
a minute or more to start printing a text document), then restart your PC 
(START->shutdown->restart) to complete the A1000 installation.

If you have Acrobat Reader version 3.0 (or higher) already installed on 
your system, it is not necessary to uninstall it and then reinstall Acrobat 
4.0 provided with the A1000, unless you want to use the 4.0 features. Just 
cancel out of the Adobe installation to continue with the A1000 software 
installation.

If you receive a "Cannot Communicate to A1000" message, either the power 
cable or USB cable is not connected correctly.  Re-connect the cables and 
then restart your PC (START->shutdown->restart) to complete the 
installation.

If you receive a "Cartridge Missing" message, most likely you skipped over 
the Cartridge Installation section (Step 5 of the Quick Setup Poster).  To 
reposition the cartridge carrier, unplug the AC power cord and reconnect.  
Install the cartridges and press the STOP button on the front control 
panel, then restart the PC (START->shutdown->restart) to complete the 
installation.

To send emails using Compaq Control Form or Speed Send, your PC must be 
setup to connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP). You will then 
need to configure your A1000 software to send emails (Compaq A1000 Internet 
Desktop->Setup->Send To->Email Menu option).  You will need to fill in the 
name of your SMTP server and your email address. 

Use a "," (not a P) to enter a pause when entering Fax Numbers in Speed 
Send Setup.

When using the Copy/Scan Sleeve, insert the closed edge into the scanner. 
Also, place thick documents (such as photographs) in the center of the 
Copy/Scan Sleeve to prevent images from twisting while scanning.

To obtain the latest software updates for your Compaq A1000, periodically 
visit the Compaq A1000 Software Enhancements site.  Just click on: 
START->Programs->Compaq A1000 All-In-One->Software Enhancements and 
Updates.
