LMP 2150 (260-1272) Ribbon Installation/Replacement Faxback Doc. # 5649

Black Cartridge (26-1287)

The standard ribbon and spools rewind automatically; therefore, it is not
necessary to place a spool on a specific hub. Replace the ribbon when the
print no longer has the contrast you prefer or approximately after each
box of standard size computer paper is used.

1. Lift the Printer cover. The power may be ON or OFF when you load the
   ribbon.

2. Move the forms thickness lever as far as the lever will go toward the
back of the Printer. (If the paper is ON, the ALERT indicator will
illuminate when you move the lever back.) The two metal strips behind
the Print Position Scale will separate slightly.

3. Place one spool of ribbon on a hub so that the locking latch snaps into
place and the ribbon unwinds toward the outside.

4. Pass the ribbon around the ribbon guides and carefully place the ribbon
between the two strips of metal. Make sure the ribbon is not twisted.

NOTE: A twisted ribbon could affect the print quality, shorten the ribbon
life, or cause a paper jam.

5. Place the second spool of ribbon on a hub so that the locking latch
snaps into place and the ribbon winds toward the inside. You can adjust
the ribbon's tautness by winding the spool with your hand.

6. Adjust the forms thickness lever to a position that is correct for the
thickness of the paper. (Don't be concerned about adjusting the forms
thickness lever if there isn't any paper in the Printer.)

7. If the power is On and the paper is in the Printer properly, press the
RESTART switch. The ALERT indicator will go out.

Ribbon loading directions also are shown on the black plastic cover inside
the Printer.

RIBBON REMOVAL

1. Move the forms thickness lever toward the back of the Printer.

2. Release the locking latch on either hub and lift the ribbon spool.

3. Carefully remove the ribbon from around the ribbon guides and out of the
   two strips of metal.

4. Remove the second spool from its hub.
