For Use With Sheet-Feed Ink-Jet Printers
Put Your Personal Designs on T-Shirts, Hats, and More
It's easy - create a design on your computer, print it on a transfer sheet,
then iron it on
Standard 8 1/2" x 11" (216 x 279 mm) letter-size sheets
What you need:
White or light-colored 100% cotton or cotton/polyester blend garment or
fabric
Iron (without steam holes works best)
Hard, flat ironing surface (such as a countertop). Do not use an ironing
board.
Pillowcase (or other material) to protect the ironing surface.
Before you start:
It is a good idea to make several test transfers onto scrap cloth of a
similar fabric.
Be sure your iron is clean. If it is not clean, be sure it is cool, use
mild soap and a plastic scouring pad to clean it, then rinse it
thoroughly.
Printing Images
You must print a reverse image of the graphic you want (left and right
swapped) so it will appear correctly when you transfer it. You can select
this option in some printer setup screens. If the setup screen for your
printer does not include this option, you must flip the graphic using your
software's tools.
For the best results, feed the iron-on transfer paper into your printer one
sheet at a time and set the printer to its coated-paper setting.
After printing, allow the ink to dry for several minutes to prevent smears.
Transferring Images
1. Preheat the iron for 8 minutes at its hottest setting. Be sure steam
is turned off.
2. Fold the pillowcases in half and place it on a hard, flat surface (such
as a countertop) with the pillowcase's top and bottom seams extended
over the surface's edge. Be sure the pillowcase is smooth and flat.
3. Place the part of the garment where the transfer will go over the
pillowcase. Be sure the garment has no wrinkles or folds.
4. Cut away any excess transfer paper, leaving at least 1/2 inch of blank
transfer paper between the edge and the image.
5. Align the transfer paper, with the print side down, on top of the
garment. Make sure the transfer and the garment are over the
pillowcase.
6. Starting at the top edge of the transfer, iron all of the transfer,
including the edges and corners, for about 30 seconds. Use firm
pressure and keep the iron flat and moving at all times.
Note: For transfers smaller than the face of your iron, you can cut
the following ironing times in half.
7. Starting from the bottom edge, iron all of the transfer again,
including all edges and corners, for another 30 seconds.
8. Iron all edges and corners for another 10 seconds to ensure your
transfer is smooth around all edges.
9. Use the edge of your fingernail to quickly (but carefully) peel the
transfer from the garment while it is still hot.
Note: If the paper does not easily peel from the garment, iron all
of the untransferred image and peel it away while it is hot.
Do not directly iron any portion of a previously transferred
image.
10. Let the garment cool at least 2 minutes before handling it.
Care Instructions
To wash, turn the garment inside-out and wash in cold water. Do not use
bleach. Remove promptly after washing, and allow to hang dry.
