Lexmark 2050 Color Jetprinter

The printer driver diskette which originally was packaged with the Lexmark
2050 Color Jetprinter (260-2982) sometimes will "lose" the ability to print
in 600 X 600 DPI.
SYMPTOM:
When the MEDIA/QUALITY tab is selected with within the PROPERTIES window of
the LexMark printer driver, the following options should appear under
ADDRESSABILITY:
300 x 300 DPI
600 x 600 DPI
If the 600 x 600 DPI does not appear, or is not available, the user should
update their printer driver version. To insure that this is the problem,
go to the LEXMARK 2050 SERIES CONTROL PROGRAM, which is found in the
LEXMARK 2050 SERIES folder of the START menu. Click on the ABOUT button.
The older printer driver is version 1.0.0.5.
RESOLUTION:
A new printer driver (version 2.0.1.0) is available for the LexMark 2050
Series printer through the manufacturer. This driver can be downloaded via
the internet at the LexMark website. The address is:

The compressed file to download is:
CJ2050WE.EXE.
When expanded, this file will require two 3.5", 1.44 MB diskettes. We also
do have a copy of this newer driver in the library.
Listed below you will find the README.1ST file for this driver. It does
include installation instructions.

IV. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Format two 1.44 MB (High Density) blank diskette and label them disk1
and disk2. Insert disk1 into the A: drive of your PC.
2. If you have installed a previous version of this driver you should go
to the Lexmark Colorjetprinter 2050 folder and run the uninstall
program by double clicking on the uninstall icon. Then restart
Windows.
3. If you are running Windows 95, skip to step 5. If you are running
Windows 3.1 or 3.11, click File, Run, and enter RUNME.BAT preceded by
the directory that contains the driver file you just downloaded.
(Ex: C:\CJ2050\RUNME)
When prompted remove disk1 and insert disk2. The complete driver and
installation program will be copied to the diskettes in your A: drive.
4. Windows 3.x: Insert disk1 and Click File, Run, and enter a:\setup.
When prompted remove disk1 and insert disk2. The driver files will be
installed on your system. Enter the appropriate printer port when
prompted, then skip to step 7.
5. Windows 95: Insert the first disk and click Start, Run and enter
RUNME.BAT preceded by the directory that contains the driver file you
just downloaded.
(Ex: C:\CJ2050\RUNME)
When prompted remove disk1 and insert disk2. The complete driver and
installation program will be copied to the diskettes in your A: drive.
6. Windows 95: Insert disk1 into A:, Click Start, Run, and enter
a:\setup. When prompted removed disk1 and insert disk2 The driver
files will be installed on your system. Enter the appropriate printer
port when prompted.
7. You should Restart Windows for the driver update to take effect.
After you have verified that the driver is installed and working
properly, you may want to erase the files that you originally
downloaded - CJ2050WE.EXE, CJ2050D1.EXE, CJ2050D2.EXE, RUNME.BAT.
8. Click on the Readme icon in the Lexmark 2050 Series group for more
information on your printer.
