Super Sharp Waterproof Ink Questions Faxback Doc. # 37139
Q) Is the ink waterproof?
A) Images printed with pigmented inks are waterfast minutes after printing,
however, some print media may require longer dry times to reach an optimum
water resistance level. Images printed with pigmented ink can be wet
smeared. The ink doesn't run when dipped in water, but rubbing the page
can disturb the image. This is called "shearing" and varies with the media
that is being used. Even through the image may smear, this would only be a
top layer of the ink and the text is not disturbed. It is still readable.
Leaving the wet page to dry without rubbing should be suggested for spills.
The image will dry without smearing. The pigmented ink passes the Swedish
Archival Tests.
Q) Is the color different?
A) Dye based inks are bluish black, pigmented inks are brownish black.
Q) The ink doesn't seem to look as good on some inkjet papers.
A) Many transparencies, coated and glossy papers are designed for dye based
inks and may not perform ideally. However our inks work satisfactorily on
our brand media and we recommend that for getting the best possible
results.
Q) Why does it take longer to dry?
A) Depending on media and image type, the pigmented inks need longer time
to dry. This is normal for pigmented inks.
Q) Is the ink IR barcode readable?
A) Yes. This should be tested before purchasing for variations in media
and applications.
