Citizen PROjet II (260-2957) Printer Setup Faxback Doc. # 14702

Factory Settings

When you receive the printer, its basic operating parameters are already
set with pre-defined values (default values). These factory setting will
probably meet your requirements. If they do not, you can change them,
using the SET-up procedure.

CAUTION: Always switch off the printer before changing the positions of
the SET-UP selectors, as their position is read only at printer
          switch-on.

The factory settings, indicated by the OFF position of the selectors, are:

Parameter Selection Procedure

Access to the SET-UP Selectors

CAUTION: To redefine the programmable parameters using the printer SET-UP
procedure, the printer must be switched off.

Open the top cover of the printer and the selector cover. On the inside
of the top cover, there is an engraved template which indicates the
parameter assigned to each selector. The names of the parameter groups
are also engraved on the inside of the selector cover.

How to Select the Parameter Settings

Each selector has two positions:

  OFF : down (default position)

ON: up (alternative value for each specific parameter).

To alter the setting of the parameter(s), just change the position(s) of
the specific selector(s).

Termination of SET-UP Process

Once you have completed the selection of the parameter values you require,
close the selector cover and the top cover, then switch on the printer.

Each time you turn on the power, the printer "reads" the position of the
selectors and will be ready to print with the features you have defined.

Programmable Features

The 33 selectors are assigned to the programmable parameters singly, or in
some cases, in groups (for FONT, PAPER FORMAT, CHARACTER SET). Starting
from the left, the selectors are designated as follows:

A group of six selectors, numbered 1 to 6, which select the font.

Fourteen selectors, indicated alphabetically, which select individual
  print attributes and features.

A group of three selectors, numbered 1 to 3, which select the paper
  format.

A group of six selectors, numbered 1 to 6, which select the character
  set.

A group of four selectors, numbered 1 to 4, which are reserved.

Resident Emulation (HP Desk Jet Plus)

Starting from the leftmost selector, the following parameters can be
defined:

FONT

The first six selectors on the selector bar define the print font to be
used. When selecting a resident font other than the default value
(COURIER 10), ONLY the specific selector should be raised; the other
five other five MUST all remain down.

TIMES NORDIC ON
EXTERNAL FONTS ON

NOTE: For information on the resident fonts available, and their
       characteristics, see Appendix E.

Print attributes and other features

The features assigned to selectors A to N, engraved on the inside of the
front cover are the alternative parameter values; i.e., they are the
values implemented when the corresponding selector is set in its ON
position.

ITALIC A

The implementation of parameters A, B and C will depend on the font
selected with the first six selectors on the selector bar. If, for
example, the Times Nordic font is selected (selector 6 ON, selectors 1, 2,
3, 4 and 5 OFF), the selection of Landscape (selector C ON) will be
ignored.

Similarly, if an optional font containing only upright characters is
selected from a font card, the selection of Italic (selector A ON) will
have no affect.
