Understanding the UL Listing

Voltage Ratings Frequency Rating Capacity Rating Wattage Rating UL Listing Transformer Class Country of Origin Type: Adapter, Converter or Inverter Catalog Number, or SKU Number This mark indicates that the conversion device (whether converter, adapter or inverter) meets the product safety standards set by Underwriter Laboratories, Inc.. Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is an independent, not-for-profit product safety testing and certification organization. UL has tested products for public safety for over a century. Each year more than 17 billion UL Marks are applied to products worldwide.

While it is not required for electronic devices to carry the UL mark, its presence on an electronic device indicates that it has been tested by Underwriter Laboratories and that it meets the safety standards for that device. This is very important for a power conversion device, as failure in a converter, adapter or inverter can cause damage to the attached device and/or the wiring and connection point. Additional information on this organization is available on the Underwriter Laboratories (UL) website. UL is not affiliated with RadioShack and does not endorse the Web site.
